Currently, electric vehicles of all kinds are a real trend. In addition to Segway, Monowheel and Hoverboard, there are also great electric scooters and electric scooter, which we would like to introduce to you here.
The electric scooters are also called electric scooters and are practical for trips or small errands. You are mobile, but at the same time environmentally friendly and economical on the road. In principle, it is a conventional scooter, as children have been using it since time immemorial, but this one has an electric motor.

Electric scooters - not yet officially approved for road use
The electric pedal scooter is currently a real hit, and has already conquered the streets in the USA. And that's absolutely no wonder, because the little runabout is stylish, relatively fast at up to 45 km/h and can be easily folded up in many cases.
Unfortunately, the nippy scooters have not yet been approved for road use in Germany. However, road approval is already under review by the authorities, so the problem should be solved in the near future. At the moment, you can only use the nifty scooters on private property.
An exception are the moped-like electric scooters with seat, which are also often called electric scooters or electric scooter scooters. These look like the familiar Vespa.

As already mentioned, these are the electric counterpart to the classic motor scooter. The big advantage is the quiet operation and the environmental friendliness, because with the electric scooters stinking exhaust is finally an end. The battery can be easily removed and recharged at home.
These electric scooters reach a maximum speed of 45 km/h, which is why a moped driving licence (class M) is usually sufficient.
Electric scooter for children
Of course, the electric scooters are also very popular with children, which is why there are also numerous models for the little ones. Of course, these drive much slower and come to a maximum of 16 km / h. One should definitely pay attention to the minimum age before putting the electric scooter under the Christmas tree. Typically, this is 8 years. In addition, children should be equipped with appropriate protection such as bicycle helmets, knee and elbow protection.
It goes without saying that the children are not allowed on the street with it.
Do I need insurance for an electric scooter?
Anyone who owns an electric scooter with a road licence must have statutory liability insurance. For all other electric vehicles used only on private premises, third party insurance is not compulsory and you are free to choose whether or not to take it out.
How long does an electric scooter battery last?
Like all other electric vehicles, the electric scooter or electric scooter also needs a battery, of course, which supplies the electric motor with electricity. This must then be charged regularly via the sockets with a charger.
When buying, it is essential to pay attention to the battery capacity and range. This should be up to 50 km. However, these are estimates and you shouldn't take a chance. A good option is also to have someone with a car nearby for the first few tries, so you can see how far you can actually get with it. If the electric scooter then breaks down, at least you are not alone in the middle of nowhere.
By the way, the battery is usually the most expensive component of the vehicle, so make sure you get enough information before you buy.
