Virtual Reality Gadgets

VR and AR are all the rage: Here you'll find the latest trends in virtual reality and augmented reality.

Virtual Reality for on the road

Currently very topical is everything around Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.
Both technologies - Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) - have evolved tremendously in recent years as faster and more powerful processors / computers are now available, graphics cards are better, internet connections are faster and software development has become more innovative all the time.
What are the differences between the two technologies?
To understand how the two technologies differ, here is a compact summary of the differences between VR and AR.
Virtual Reality (VR):
⎫ Here the user no longer perceives the real environment
⎫ The user can only experience the digital 3D world with aids such as VR glasses.
⎫ The better and more powerful the computer, the better the experience in virtual reality
⎫ The virtual world can be seen, heard and felt
⎫ VR is used for industrial applications, training, 3D games, real estate marketing and much more.
⎫ There are 360 degree images, 360 degree videos and completely created 3D worlds.

Augmented Reality (AR):
⎫ Here, the user sees the real world and is also shown additional information
⎫ A smartphone, tablet, head-up display, holography system, or augmented reality glasses such as the Microsoft HoloLens are required to experience the experience.
Pokemon Go is a very good example of AR.
Augmented Reality Glasses
These are wireless glasses that function autonomously. In contrast to VR glasses, the user is completely aware of his surroundings, i.e. reality, and can interact with virtual objects using gestures.
VR gadgets
Accordingly, there are plenty of brand new VR gadgets for the technology fan.
In addition to the actual VR glasses, which come in many varieties and price ranges, there are also accessory gadgets for these glasses to choose from. We have put together a few examples for you here.
VR glasses
In principle, there are two different types of VR glasses. The first type is connected to game consoles - typically Play Station (PS) - or the PC.
The second variety is used together with a smartphone. This is enclosed in the glasses and, together with the corresponding app, offers a 3D experience.
Examples of the first type are the Playstation VR goggles and the Oculus Rift, while for the second type they include Samsung Gear VR and Zeiss VR One Plus.

What is augmented reality?

Sony PlayStation VR
Of course, Sony hasn't missed the VR trend and has launched a pretty complete solution with the PlayStation VR glasses. The 5.7-inch OLED display has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a viewing angle of just under 100 degrees. Although the Oculus Rift has a bit more to offer technically, Sony's PS monopoly, with nearly 82 million PS4 consoles already sold worldwide, means it has the best chance of ending up as the market leader with its VR goggles as well.
The PlayStation VR has several things going for it:
⎫ comparatively favourable price
⎫ foolproof setup and operation
⎫ high wearing comfort
VR offering grows
There are now over 200 games that support Sony's VR glasses. Even if some of these games are rather simple and the real VR fans hardly sweep off their feet, there are still some games that are really great and justify the purchase of VR glasses.
What's more, VR has come to stay, meaning there's absolutely no end in sight to the trend, and we can expect VR to find its way into more and more areas of our everyday lives. So better jump on the bandwagon now, right?
Virtual Reality in Maβen!
By the way, we do not want to speak a word of warning here. Especially at the beginning you can suffer from so-called motion sickness. Symptoms include:
⎫ Nausea
⎫ Headache
⎫ severe dizziness
This doesn't mean you have to keep your hands off virtual reality altogether, he said. However, you should give your body time to get used to it. That's why you should only play for about 30 minutes at the beginning and then give your eyes a longer break. Depending on the game, you can soon be on the ball for longer.
Gadgets for the Sony VR glasses
For all the beautiful games in virtual cyberspace, there are of course plenty of accessories. It is really unbelievable what you can do technically in the meantime.
PS Camera V2
The smart camera PS Camera V2 captures the movements and the virtual reality headset. It tracks the movement of the Dual Shock 4 wireless or PlayStation Move motion controller and transmits the hand movements to the virtual game world. In this way, the camera is able to perceive the depth of the environment and to detect and locate precise sounds. In addition, the camera has facial recognition and navigates the PS4 menu with voice commands. A truly futuristic tech delight at its finest.
Cycling in VR
In the beginning of VR enjoyment you could walk around, look, move your hands. That was exciting enough, but with the VirZOOM, the freedom of movement in VR becomes even greater. This bike looks like an exercise bike and allows the VR fan to fly through the air on a Pegasus, race horses against cowboys or drive a race car. The wheel also works with Sony's popular PlayStation VR goggles, among others.
Transport bag
A VR headset is delicate and not exactly cheap either. Therefore, the carrying case is an important accessory for the gadget. This way, the beloved glasses can be transported and stored safely.
The massive case holds the VR goggles, processor unit, power supply and cables.
Protective mask
Those who value cleanliness and hygiene will be taken with this little gadget for gadget. Because when playing in virtual reality you often get quite sweaty, and the VR goggles are not necessarily breathable. As a result, there is residue and bacteria on the glasses. Disposable safety goggles - for example from Hyperkin - which are simply pulled over the eyes and thus ensure cleanliness, provide a remedy.
Stand foot
For safe storage of the glasses there is a practical stand foot. This is officially licensed by Sony and has a chic design with its blue LED light strips.
